Is it Time for a Trip to the Calgary Zoo?

Whether you’ve visited the Calgary Zoo before or you are new to the area and haven’t been yet, it’s time for a trip! It’s the perfect time of year to get outdoors and become one with the community again. There is so much to do at the zoo and so many great animals to see.

During the main season of March 19-September 30th, tickets are around $24.95 and during the rest of the year tickets cost $21 with discounts for senior citizens, children and infants all year. Your ticket includes admission to the whole zoo where you’ll find a variety of animals, dining and rides. Here is a look at what you’ll get to see at the Calgary Zoo.

What to expect

Hours include 9am to 5pm during the summer with concession and retail open from 9am to 6pm. visit the Savannah, TransAlta, Rainforest and Eurasian Gateways from 9am to 5:45pm. Parking costs $8 and event parking is also $8. The North parking lot is open all year and the West parking lot and West Gate open on April 1st.

You’ll get a fun, educational experience for the whole family all year and you can get an annual membership for free admission. Dress for the weather and feel free to bring your own lunch or snacks. Just don’t bring bikes, pets, alcohol or noisemakers.

Animals

You’ll get to see so many exciting animals during your visit. Check out huge animals like the Giraffes, the Gorillas, the Bears and the Amur Tigers. There is a komodo dragon, penguins, fish and reptiles. Check out the whooping cranes, the mandrill, the hippos and the rhinos. There are various parks including the Prehistoric Park, the Penguin Plunge, Eurasia, Destination Africa and the Canadian Wilds.

Enjoy ride and play areas, gift and souvenirs, eating and dining and guest services during your visit. Be sure to ride the wildlife carousel and go to the ZooVenture playground outside of Destination Africa.
