Do you struggle to find a place in Calgary to access Wi-Fi? Whether you are a student, professional, or someone that works from home, it’s nice to know where you can get Wi-Fi while you’re out in the city. There is great news for residents; the city of Calgary has partnered with Shaw Communications to add nine new Wi-Fi locations in the city. Here is where you can find Wi-Fi all around the city.
What Initiated New Wi-Fi Locations to be Added?
The city’s public Wi-Fi program successfully added nine new locations in which anyone can access WiFi for free. There is no cost to use it and it’s said to be of high-speed for users. The goal was to allow residents of Calgary to be able to access Wi-Fi in the park, at the golf course, in an arena, and at the LRT station. This was the motivation behind the city partnering with Shaw to make this happen.
Where Can I Find The New Wi-Fi?
The new locations that been added include:
- Rose Kohn/Jimmie Condon Arenas
- Shaganappi Golf Course
- Shaganappi Point LRT Station
- Father David Bauer/Norma Bush Arenas
- Ernie Starr Arena

- Maple Ridge Golf Course
- Shaw Millennium Park

How has the new Wi-Fi spots affected the city?
The program has been a success in Calgary. Calgarians have given positive feedback. Shaw did a great job in fulfilling the request to expand Wi-Fi throughout city facilities for the public to use.
The program launched in May of 2014. From May to August, there have been over 163,000 connections to the public Wi-Fi. The most popular locations have been the Chinook LRT Station and the Devonian.
The city plans to continue expansion on public Wi-Fi with Shaw, Calgary Transit, and the Parks and Recreation of Calgary.
