Why Calgary is a Great Place to LiveThe Calgary area of Alberta Canada is a great place to live and work. When it comes down to the things to do there, you'll have so many opportunities.

Calgary Is the Largest Town in Alberta

The town of Calgary is the largest in Alberta. It is surrounded by two rivers the Bow and the Elbow. Calgary is a great place for people who enjoy the outdoors because of the water and the mountains. There are no provincial sales tax and any tax rates are at a standard 10% of your income. You can ski in the winter and hike in the summer. There are an unlimited number of water sports you can enjoy in one of the two rivers including water skiing, water jet riding, and much more.

The city is divided into SE, SW, NE, and NW and is in a grid format. You can choose a home based on some of the great choices you have for neighbourhoods in the area. There are three neighbourhoods that are ideal for family living in Calgary and would be nice for any size family or a couple just starting out.

Shopping and dining are both great choices, and you can find everything from chain stores to eclectic shops with unique items for your home. The dining choices are equally amazing, with local cuisine, chain restaurants, and exotic creations that you'll really love. If you're a foodie, you'll be able to get your fill of great places to explore there. Even if you're not focused on trying new cuisines, you can really enjoy what's offered in and around Calgary.

When it comes to the winter months, skiing and snowboarding are great ways to get out of the house and enjoy the weather. In the summer, hiking and biking around the area are both popular. The greenery and natural beauty of the surroundings are great for playing, or for just relaxing and enjoying the peacefulness.

The city of Calgary is something of an odd mix because it's managed to not only grow at an explosive rate in a very short space of time but it's also managed to maintain the local environment at the same time. To be fair this is true of many Canadian cities but Calgary has taken this effort to be "green" to a whole new level and the inclusion of several parks in the design of the city has obviously helped this a lot.

Located to the west of Calgary is Banff and Banff National Park and this area is quickly becoming one of the most popular tourist spots in both Canada and the United States for many reasons, but it's raw and natural beauty has to be seen to be believed. Some of the main attractions in Banff are Cascade Mountain, Mount Rundle and the numerous hot springs that are dotted around the area.

There's mile after mile of walks and trails for you to enjoy and if you're a fan of hiking or mountain biking you'll fall in love with Banff almost immediately. There are also several lakes and rivers in the area too so any prospective fishermen will enjoy these of course.

Calgary has made a conscious effort to be a more environmentally friendly city and that same effort has extended into Banff in many ways. To cut down on road use and the resulting pollution the Roam bus service operates in the area and even the buses themselves have been designed to be friendlier to the environment and are also fully wheelchair accessible.

Calgary is a great place for anyone to live, economically, socially, and environmentally. Consider moving to Calgary today for the increased quality of life in this great city.
